Section 7216

Required consent language

Draft for attorney review. Revenue Procedure 2013-14. Not legal advice.

Federal law requires this consent form be provided to you. Unless authorized by law, we cannot use your tax return information for purposes other than the preparation and filing of your tax return without your consent.

If you do not want your tax return information used or disclosed as described, you do not have to sign this consent. Declining a disclosure consent does not stop us from preparing the return. Declining the use consent means we cannot prepare it.

Duration: this consent applies to the tax year shown on the return and expires one year from the date you sign, unless you revoke it sooner by email to support@fileyourtaxes.today.

If you believe your tax return information has been disclosed or used improperly in a manner unauthorized by law or without your permission, you may contact the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) by telephone at 1-800-366-4484, or by email at complaints@tigta.treas.gov.

Separate consents cover bookkeeping use, use in a later tax year, disclosure to a linked institution, and disclosure to the IRS under Form 8821. Each one is its own choice.
